Hate those Ill -fitting Denim Jeans in your wardrobe??.. :(
                         Not anymore :)

**Don't throw them!! I have an idea  :)**

Recycle them .. !! *_^

       **************How?? *************

**Take a look at my picture below..**

.. Ripped Jeans ^_^ Once a Sign of Poverty, then a Symbol of Rebelliousness, but now Fashion Statement..~_~ which rulled the Fashion scene from 70's -90's.. and are back with a Bang ..!!

My Ripped denim jeans.. that I wore yesterday for college..

As I always say,"Every shopping has a reason.. and every outfit has a story..its a mystery and we being women are on a mission it find it and solve .." In the picture above you can see me wearing a Ripped Denim Jeans..This Lee denim.. I wanted to through badly a few months ago.. n now can't imagine my wardrobe without one.. This one has sum serious history.. I bought these last year when i was in Mumbai.. from the biggest sale season of the year(July)..and like a shopaholic i was looking for just anything to swipe my card for.. and i found these on a rack , as if these were just made fr me.. as if they have just been waiting for me..
But as the feeling of Yayy!! I did shopping ..sinks in .. n you realize wtf did I do with my money.. :( likewise ,I realized O_o what a waste of money it was.. and suddenly I was hate everything about my denim :( .. from color to fit (the fitting part was actually rite.. it didn't fit me properly.. like it was borrowed..or is from my fat school days..) and I could not stop cursing my idiot friend ,who made me believe that I made the best decision.. just to get rid of another shopping spree wid me (typical guy)..
So, here is the real story.. 2 months back I got my knee bruised by not seeing  a big pit in front of me and falling in the same ); (clumsy Me.. typical Gemini).. after an injection and a few days of bed-rest.. i cud not dress up ..like I usually do.. so I Decided to Rip my old Levis.. for a visit to Gurudwara Sahib..where I cud not(obviously) dress up in shorts..Then it was a simple Horizontal Cut on the Knee area of my denim..with a scissor n blade ..Its when I Realized wearing them is not bad at all.. infact they look really nice wid sporty Tee's and tunics..(all u hv to do is accessorize them well)..
Later, when I ws just about to giveaway the lee(the one I am wearing in the pic above) I thought of ripping it Vertically between thighs and knee area of the denim..like in  parallel lines (to avoid attention from my thunder thighs ;p  )..And it turned out to be quite a Denim.. ^_^

( I am wearing-- Denim: Lee, Tank-top: sum stall,GK , Halter Top: Pantaloons, Bag:Woodland, Watch:my Dad's, Bangle: Stupid-Cupid, Shades: Vero Moda, Shoes: Shoes n More{Model Town Mrkt} )

*Things to be Kept in mind before buying a Ripped denim Jeans or ripping a Denim jeans-

*have heavy thighs or short height..  never go for a denim ripped horizontally above your knee it gives attention to all the wrong areas..making u look fat and short....go for a simple knee ripped denim..

*Want to give your self a little height with these ripped denim jeans.. go for the ones with vertical -parallel rips between thighs and knee.. only if you can carry these off!!( it shows a lot of your skin.. '_^ )

* never forget  to look for the ripped detailing on the back pocket or side pocket.. for a finished look of the ripped denim..

* If doing it yourself make sure you mark the cuts first and then use blade or scissor.. make the cut slightly smaller than the mark as the lose threads from the cut will increase and expand the size of the cut with time..

* For better result and exact look ,wash the denim after ripping it off..it makes the denim look more natural..and effect is also better..

Though, Ripped jeans are mostly seen on celebrities or are reserved for designer brands. Ordinary wearers are no longer seen as rebellious , its more of a trend or fashion statement now.. I personally like to wear them to college.. movies..shopping..outings.

p.s.- why spend a bomb to buy a ripped denim..your Closet alawys has that one denim you wana thourugh.. use that .. why only wear a boyfriend's shirt or a Blazer when u can also flaunt a Boyfriend's denim jeans from your own Closet.. ~_~

My Favorite It-Girl Kim Kardashian is usually  Spotted in Ripped denims jeans when she is traveling ..!!

**Aonther Cute thing you can do with your Old Denim Jeans **
My friend Parul's Sister made this cute Clutch out-off an old Denim jeans.. she used a zip to close one end..n tailored another.. added  colorful buttons  to make it funky and cute.. ^_^

** A little sumthing that you should know about Ripped Denim Jeans.. or just Denim Jeans..**
Denim Jeans have come a long way since 1870's ..if we look at History of Fashion..Starting in the 1950s, jeans, originally designed for cowboys, became popular among Teenagers..
Then came the unusual .... In 70's People were spotted wearing Ripped..Torn..Slashed Denim Jeans..
Torn denim jeans have traveled a long way in our Fashion History....There’s a lot to learn about ripped jeans by glancing at the Google News archives. Generally speaking, ripped jeans were fashionable in the music crowd from the 1970’s onward, but the masses did not see the style until 1984 or so. Ripped jeans were explosively popular until the very early 90’s where they were put on the back burner..

{* It Girl Madonna among many other Fashionistas , who was seen wearing these Ripped Jeans in 1990's..}

So, this was another Confession from my Closet.. will be back soon with more ..   ~_~

Sassy City Chicks: Must Have Manicure!

Sassy City Chicks: Must Have Manicure!: Newspaper Nails We've seen this funky nail design popping up recently, so we thought we'd share! Here's how to have the news at your finger...

Recycle..Restyle..and Re-wear ;-) , Tricks to falunt a tunic in 3 different styles( n more if you want)..p.s-saviour when you are travelling..

                                 Recycle..Restyle..and Re-wear  ;-)
I am sure you don't want to wear your favorite Tee each-time  with that same denim.. or a pair of footwear wid the same dress .. I mean to say.. We all recycle n reuse the same piece of clothing or accessory ..

And..  I personally like to do that.. I try not to repeat a combo again.. like if i m wearing a pink Tee with a pain denim..  I'll probably team that Tee again inside a blazer.. or with a skirt.. n I m telling you ..if you know the trick to dress like this.. its a savior if you are traveling ..(or are short of clothes or suppose to carry minimum clothing)

Like here..I am wearing a  Basic White Tunic top.. with my Mom's patiyala Salwar and pink dupatta..To flaunt this look you can try a neutral color tunic with a colorful harem.. or a nice salwar with a kolahpuri..n bangles.. carry a dupatta if you like.. for a traditional desii look..(which is my hot favorite this season..) in short play with color..coz a basic tunic goes with every color..try hot pink n or green.. (like i did ^_^)

The same tunic I am wearing inside my Dad's Lenin Pants.. To flaunt this look..u can wear a tunic with a high waist pant for a formal look.. nobody 'll ever come to know that its the same tunic u wore with a salwar.. (Tip-try ur dad's pant as a substitute for high waist pant and a nice tote and footwear.. and accessories to go..Super Classy n totally Chic..for reference look at the pic above..)

Here..my look is totally Boho.. m wearing the same white tunic as a Casual  Dress with a skirt as slip inside and a Denim Jacket.. m also carrying my favorite Orange Tote..Footwear-J&M Connection.. Jewelery.. from my personal Collection ..(picture credits to my MOM for clicking it for Me{and for the patience She Showed }..I Love You Mom.. :-* )

So, thatz how I wore my white tunic in 3 different styles for three different looks.. m sure there is a lot more left to be done with this tunic.. n if you have any ideas or suggestions pls be free to share & comment.. :)

Until my next post ..As I always say do it as Coco Chanel.."I don't do Fashion..I am Fashion.."

Picture Diary 06/09.. afternoon spent in The Gurudwara Sahib..so Serene..peaceful..and soulful..

Afternoon spent at "The Gurudwara Sahib-Nanak Piyau"-serene.. peaceful.. and much needed.. ^__^

Had the most amazing afternoon today at "Gurudwara Sahib-Nakak Piyau" after my classes..
And also I would like to thank Yukta for the amazing tea, cake and paratha's.. : D
n Mansi for being such a patient and wonderful photographer(though a first timer.. but super.. :-*)

Satya Naam Shree Waheguru..

Serene Sarovar

Jo Bole Sonihaal --Sat Shree Akaal..

Waheguru ji da Khalsa ..Waheguru ji di Fateh..

Baba ji Meer karoo.. Sabda Bhala Karoo

That's how i generally dress up for "Gurudwara Sahib"..i don't like wearing ,western or Indo-western for a temple .. I believe we should follow the traditional dress code.. coz we Indian's dont realize how beautiful n colorful our culture is.. And some times we should embrace our Indian culture .. and being a Punjabi u feel a different love and passion for our language , people, pind and culture I am sure.. all you Punjabi's would agree.. like how we connect coz of our language .. home town n sir-names.. these things might sound silly.. but they really bind us all together in a bond that is inseparable n unexplainable.. and once in a while.. I just like being the real Me..(like I am in the pictures above) that's what makes me feel close to my roots.. ^__^
and I really believe being yourself and being proud of you are is the biggest label you wear .. that outfit or label won't make you pretty .. its your personality.. n your attitude n believes ..build that..

*In the above picture I am wearing a Desi outfit..totally mixed and matched n also some  borrowed from my mom's closet.. ;p
But that's the real fun.. how you find a different new everyday from the same old, old.. ;)

(I am waering-- Green Kurti-Lifestyle, Hot Pink Narrow Salwar-My Mom's ;) , Silver Ruby Earrings- Adarsh Jewelers(Kamla Nagar mrkt), Bag- some shop in Kamla Nagar, Silver/Golden flip-flops- some shop (lokhandwala mrkt), watch- Skagen, dupatta-from the Gurudwara Sahib)

That sums up my day i guess.. Still have heaps to share with you all..
                                                    &

Till my next post.. do it as Coco Chanel.."I don't do Fashion.. I am Fashion.."

Style Update on Pipa Midedleton..from her closet straight for my Fashionistas

                                            Pippa Middleton’s latest look-

Pippa Middleton , the IT Girl on the Block.. is all about denim lately! The younger Middleton sister paired her gray straight-leg jeans with a silky white blouse and a brown crocodile Modalu bag in London . and in the other pic , she accessorized up her head-to-toe blue look with tan espadrille wedges and a matching Modalu bag.

To get this look easy -.. You'll need a faded denim or a basic washed denim from your own wardrobe.. an basic white or any pastel color tunic top or a blouse.. accessorize this look with basic studs in ears  .. shoes n bag that compliment each other.. a statement watch or bracelet or ring ..minimal make up.. or just a lip-balm  n shades to cover your eyes..n nicely blow dried hair..

Pefect for- An afternoon with friends for lunch ,coffee , brunch , shopping , movie ...........

5 Hot tips for keeping your bag in best condition

*****
5 Hot tips for keeping your bag in best condition.

1. Do NOT pull loose threads. This is the worst thing you can do! Simply burn  the loose thread instead.
 2. Keep it away from the rain. We know this can be hard so if it happens, just wipe away excess moisture and leave it to dry naturally. For quick results stuff it with newspaper to help soak up the water! n also remember to carry carry a few plastic bags (one for your nic-nacks to save them from damage and one to cover your bag..) bur make sure you wipe the water drops off later..

 3. Rub candle wax on the zip. This i...s a great tip if the zip on your bag gets a little stiff, trust us it really works!(specially for your old vintage bags.. if you have them.. best tip to keep their zip working..)

 4. Keep it in a cool dry place away from heat. If you are using your bag on a hot summer's day this can be virtually impossible, however use common sense! Keep it away from any direct sunlight or heat source. Heat can actually cook the hide and cause it to stiffen; the fibres un-mesh and it can crack.

 5. Do NOT keep it in a plastic bag. This encourages the growth of mildew & ruin your bag!, use a cloth bag or a mal-mal cloth to wrap your expensive hand-made or delicate bags n clutches.. doing this would keeps them safe and increase their life..

I hope these tips are of some help to my Fashionistas.. and till my next post do it as ......

High Waist Pants-Pull it up..crop or fold it down..(n get it how.. ;P)

High waist Pants-Pull it up & Crop or Fold it Down..(n get it How ;-P )

The high-waisted-full-legged look that keeps coming in and out of vogue is not for everyone. But like every other trend, you can tailor the look so that is works for you. Katharine Hepburn was the first celebrity to lead with the style in the 1940’s as women of America went to work in the factories wearing the pants of their husbands who were at war. When those pants wore out, replacements were needed and the feminine high-waisted trouser was created.
The first famous woman to start the style trend: Katharine Hepburn.
We’ve watched other women behind the camera and on the street embrace the look in the last sixty years, from Diane Keaton in Annie Hall to Princess Letizia of Spain walking the streets of Madrid. & even  our Bollywood It-Girls  like Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma to Sonakshi Sinah.. flaunting the look from Premiers to Parties..look at the pic below for reference ..

And ..One thing in fashion we all must remember is that whether the style is from the 1900’s or 1980’s, we always develop our fashion trends by looking at the past, and modifying everything for the present. As Yves Saint Laurent once said… “Fashion stays the same, but style is eternal.”& these pants came back with a Bang..

Now we see them on Runways, with celebrities and for retail, this trend is one that almost anyone can wear.

Advantages of a High wasted Pant-
Hides your fat around the belly and waist..even if u have heavy thighs or hips.. a darker color high waste pant can work wonders .. as it highlights ur empire line.. As Indian women bodytype is like that.. Our Women are generally heavier on their lower .. to make the look perfect wear a floral pattern blouse with ruffles , or a cotton blouse or even  a tank with a jacket over it &  use a different color belt to block the color.. n make the lower seperate from the top.. team it up wid a nice footwear( preferably heels..) and a nice Bag with the Vintage feel..You'll look no less than a Celeb.. as it generally suits everyone.. (u need not be a size zero for this look.look at me in the pic below..i m no size zero.. )

Another Tip-You can also crop them from ankle or fold them.. if you are wearing High heels..its a great look for afternoonparties, formal affairs, meetings, brunch, movies, coffee..events..etc.,.u like I am wearing in the pic.

How to Get this Look Cheap n Easy??

Now, the secret to save money and get this look cheap n easy.. Raid your Dad's wardrobe( as i always say .. old is gold..n ..what is bad in it.. if u get it from your home.. ;) lol ..) coz yesterday I went shopping with my cousin to Kamla Nagar and  we checked in a store to pick a similar trouser(like the one I m wearing in the picture above) , but I saw the price tag and walked out with a smile.... Coz I had an idea.. the moment I saw the pants..an image of my Dad wearing his formal pants came to my mind.. His old plated Pants .. which are just hanging in the closet.. never worn from ages.. So, I wore the same pants today..with a lillal (almost 2 inch) fold on the ankles as m too short for them..( but who cares.. they r for free  .. ;-)

p.s.- Nobody cud even guess the whole day these are my Dad's.. & to my surprise.. it was a compliment flooded day.. lol :p
   (My wardrobe:- Jacket-Multiples, Tank-top - GK , M-Block market, Footwear- J n M Connection(Venus Steps), Bag-Aldo, Watch-Aldo , Shades-Vero Moda, Rings-GK,M-Block mrkt& Kamla Nagar, Chain- Forever 21, High Waist Pants-My Dad's ^_^, location-ozel ,GK1, m block mrkt, photographer-Yukta Juneja )

You.. can also try this look .. its very simple.. n u knw where to get these pants if u still dont have them in your wardrobe.. :-)

 And a MORE..

Making of  Confessionz of a Closet-

cfc..my baby..!! :-*

The Answer is.. exactly a year n a half back.. a mass com. student moved to Mumbai from Delhi.. to make it big..She met a lot of ppl ..Good and Bad.. Her passion for Clothes and Fashion made her popular among her frnds n colleagues .. her ability to recognize best from scrap made her the the best shopping guide.. from Lokhandwala to Collaba ..she knew the best shops..and bought the most amazing clothes in cheap n best deals.... The stress of work n deadlines started taking over her passion.. and to add to her miseries she got conjunctivitis (damn Mumbai  monsoon).. but she didn't give up.. from a publicist she went to bcum  a Celebrity Manager..   But she wasn't happy at all..coz the stress ws taking over her..and the Fashionista ws dying..  and one fine day.. she decided to quit a job.. to her rescue a frnd (who is a Casting director )offered her a lillal appearance in the Salman Khan starrer BODYGUARD..to play one of Kareena's frnd..

pic from a Mumbai's daily,(from L-R) Shaily, Salman and ,Sidique sir(the Hello! hello! scene..)
And Kareena being her favourite Fashionista and Salman on the sets made her write a resignation over nite.. saying bye to mumbai and Hi! to Pune for 15 days shoot .. where She got time to think.. think ..n think..and after 15 days of thinking she come to a conclusion that..she has to do something in Fashion(why and how.. lets find out)..That She is ME.. -Shaily

Bodyguard-

The stylist who styled Pamela Anderson for Bigboss-4 .. gave me clothes that I wud never wear personally..not suiting my body-type or personality.. see the pic above fr the reference.. i ws dressed in a dress that ws too big for my size.. a denim jacket to hide the design(only gud thing about that dress) a taveez in my neck(yuck!!).. a brown tote(only gud thing about my bad costume) a white pair of gladiator(too big for my feet,it was a struggle to wear them)n to top it all a pony tail to tie my tresses.. not realizing that I have a round face.. making me look a perfect example of BTM(Behanji turned Modern) ,like a nightmare.. i have never dressed so bad ever.. that made it all the more obvious that I have to do something in Fashion..

in the vanity.. before the disastrous pony- tail n taveez
And  that's how months later I came up wid "Confessionz of a Closet".-

p.s.- i kept hiding my face through out my scenes out off embarrassment ..

Kareena-

Spending time on the sets wid my  favourite ..Fashionista around  inspired me even more.. the Punjabi factor made me  relate and connect wid her   .. real her ws so like real me i realized..like her personal style too is Boho..- tunic tops n denims wid fit-flops..and what really got me thinking ws how sumone wearing Indian ethnic.. in a total desi outfit can look so amazingly gorgeous n fashionable at the same time.. she made look kurtis and salwars wid jhola bags so trendy..that inspired me even more coz  i too club my tunics and mom's old straight salwar wid duppats for family dinners..gatherings , parties ,premiers, college, etc.,..

Kareena's look in bodyguard..(PIc from PinkVilla.com)

Desi Me..for a family dinner..

Me n Joyeeta Mitra(senior correspondent Star News), on the premier oh Hum Dono Rangeen..

coz we being Indian's dont realize we have an advantage of clubbing Desi wid western and create sumthing new.. no one in the world can do that..

A T-shirt wid  patiyala salwar can only be worn here n which also  became  a style statement among young girls n teenagers .. ( remember Kareena from Jab We Met) thats how i dress-up for night..

Ganpati-
Today on the auspicious occasion of Ganpati.. i suggest all my Fashionista's to Go desi.. wid a hint of western..
Ganpatti Bappa Moriya..me posing after the ganpatii aarti..(kutri W, salwar-mom's old..footwear-kolahpuri's from GK,M block mrkt, bangles-lajpat nagar mrkt, mobile holder-gift..)

With this.. signing  off for the day..  Blessing and Wishes .. Happy Ganesh Chathurthi to all.. Ganpatii bappa Moriya..!!
